Surgery Tech Position

Location: Lafayette, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 10 hours per day (40 hours per week)
Employment Type: Clinical Non-Nursing

Job Summary

• Perform various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure safe and successful operative procedures.
• Function under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and report to Surgical Services management.
• Support surgical operations initiatives and safety plans system-wide.
• Maintain sterile field and ensure environmental and fire safety in the operating room.
• Prepare the operating room and instruments for surgical procedures.
• Assist surgeons during procedures within the scope of practice.
• Identify and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures.
• May assist with sterile processing.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Tech experience.
• At least 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) scrubbing experience.
• 1 year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital preferred.
• Experience in surgical team support, sterile field management, sterilization processes, life support related to surgical care, and supervision within surgical services (ORT scope).

Education

• Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program,
  OR
• Graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past 6 months (not eligible for Tech in Surgery exam),
  OR
• Two years of scrub tech experience in hospital or military surgical services within the last 3 years.

Certifications & Licensure

• Colorado License (DORA) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers required.
• National Certification as an ORT in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
