Registered Nurse (NICU) - Travel Position

Job Summary

• Provide routine and complex nursing care in a Level 4 NICU setting, caring for patients ranging from feeder growers to complex ICU neonatal patients.
• Practice independently with awareness of all relevant clinical aspects.
• Manage clinical situations by making appropriate assignments and delegating to other care providers.
• Patient ratios vary between 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4; CNAs support 1:4 assignments.
• Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekends over six weeks, including two Mondays and two Fridays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Meet organizational competencies related to leadership and clinical practice.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• STABLE certification (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a Perinatal Setting preferred.

Orientation and Onboarding

• New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days.
• New hires receive preceptorship by trained staff and must complete organizational and Perinatal Services-specific competency validations.
• Completion of all annual competency verifications required.

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM, full-time.
• Weekend coverage as specified above.
