Registered Nurse (ER/Medsurg Swing)

Location: Breckenridge, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day/Night Rotate (7a-7p, 7p-7a)
Hours per Day: 12
Hours per Week: 36
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
Holiday Requirement: Yes, if it falls on scheduled shift

Job Summary

• Work in the Emergency Room (ER) with a Trauma Level IV, STEMI receiving, and Stroke designated facility.
• ER holds are intermixed within the ER; separate psych/seclusion rooms available.
• Average patient volume: approximately 10 patients per day.
• No fast track or separate triage area; no in-house 24/7 security in ER.
• Charge nurse present each shift and takes patient assignments.
• Respiratory Therapy (RT) not available 24/7; RNs troubleshoot RT equipment and read their own cardiac monitor strips (Mindray monitors).
• Lab staff perform phlebotomy and transport for X-Ray/CT.
• Floating required to Med/Surg and Swing bed units on the same floor.
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs.
• Orientation: Unit/department-specific orientation provided.

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred but not required

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) nursing experience.
• Previous Med/Surg nursing experience required.

Additional Information

• No clinical involvement outside of nursing duties.
• No call or standby requirements.
• Scheduling may consider block scheduling.
• Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and may not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN with certain affiliated facilities in the past year.
• Return to Office (RTO) required upfront; no additional RTO approvals after submission.

This position is suitable for experienced ER nurses with Med/Surg background seeking a rotating day/night schedule in a trauma-designated hospital setting.
