Registered Nurse – Emergency Center
Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Shift: Evenings
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
Job Overview
Seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with larger hospital experience for a 17-week contract. The role involves working in a high-volume emergency center with approximately 180-200 patient visits per day.
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) or ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – mandatory
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment completed
- Must have experience with Meditech EMR (version 6.15)
Work Environment & Patient Population
- Patient acuity ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Trauma cases are managed, with some neuro trauma and orthopedic cases retained; no burn cases
- The facility is a designated CVA (stroke) center
- Behavioral health area with a 6-bed behavioral lockdown staffed by psychiatric personnel
- Nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:4
- Nurses perform their own lab draws and start IVs
- Respiratory therapists available 24/7 in the ER for ventilated patients
- Pharmacy services available 11 hours daily in department and 24/7 on campus
Staffing & Support
- Charge nurse present
- Nurse aides/paramedics available (5-6 per shift)
- Security and patient sitters available for safety
- Central monitoring techs for telemetry/monitoring
- Multiple physician and advanced practice provider shifts covering 24/7
Orientation & Scheduling
- Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: every other holiday
- Auto lunch deductions on evening shifts (1pm–1am)
- Scrub color: Caribbean Blue only
Additional Notes
- Driver’s license address must be included in submission for consideration
- Callout process and completion of orientation requirements (ORT) during week one are emphasized
- Ventilated patients are held in the ER until admission
This position is ideal for an experienced ER nurse comfortable with a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and who meets the certification and travel experience requirements.
