Registered Nurse – Emergency Center

Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week


Job Overview

Seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with larger hospital experience for a 17-week travel contract. The role involves working night shifts in a busy emergency department with approximately 180-200 patient visits per day.


Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – mandatory
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) or ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment completed
  • Must have experience with Meditech EMR (version 6.15)

Work Environment & Team

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
  • Charge nurse role expected
  • Support staff includes nurse aides/paramedics (5-6 per shift), security/patient sitters, respiratory therapists (24/7 dedicated to ER), and pharmacy coverage (in department 11 hours/day, on campus 24/7)
  • Central monitoring techs available for telemetry/monitoring
  • Behavioral lockdown area with psych staff for behavioral health patients
  • Common patient types: pediatric to geriatric, trauma, neuro (some neuro trauma transferred out), ortho (some kept, some transferred), no burn patients, designated CVA (stroke) center

Orientation & Policies

  • Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts
  • Scrub color: Caribbean Blue only
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • Holiday requirement: every other holiday
  • Auto lunch deductions for night shifts (7p-7a)
  • Nurses responsible for lab draws and IV starts
  • Callout process and completion of orientation readiness training (ORT) during week one are strictly enforced

Additional Notes

  • Driver’s license address must be provided for consideration
  • The department holds ventilated patients in the ER until admission
  • Safety sitters available for patient monitoring until admission

This position is ideal for Emergency Room RNs with strong critical care skills, trauma experience, and prior travel nursing assignments who are comfortable working nights in a high-volume hospital setting.
