Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Med/Surg Telemetry
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts only (Day/Night rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Shifts may be rotated as needed to meet hospital operational needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
Experience & Licensing Requirements
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted).
- Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
Certifications Required
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS Stroke Certification
- Pass/Fail ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate testing during orientation (passing score required).
Orientation & Testing
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication dosing test completed onsite during orientation.
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing.
- Candidates with less than 6 months gap from previous Cleveland Clinic assignment may be exempt from some testing.
Background & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check required prior to start, including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting.
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
- Fit mask (N95) fit testing required within 12 months and updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required: Tdap, TB test or chest X-ray, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, flu vaccine or approved exemption, drug screening, and eye exam.
- Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines reviewed on a case-by-case basis; declinations are not accepted.
Documentation & History
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty.
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Annual skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.
- State-specific Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation required annually.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and documentation prior to start date.
- Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts and requires flexibility.
- Candidates with gaps longer than 6 months between Cleveland Clinic assignments may need to repeat orientation and testing.
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and testing requirements to maintain assignment eligibility.
