MS/Tele

Overview

• Travel/Contract RN assignment in Wilmington, North Carolina.
• 13-week contract.
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–7:15.
• 36 hours per week.
• Combination acuity unit: adult medical surgical and surgical stepdown.
• Ratios: 1:6 for floor surgical/medicine inpatient patients.
• Float scope: when needed to like units.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
• RTO after booking is not allowed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience).
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIHSS.
• 2 years of surgical unit experience.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
• Required skills: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response Teams, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, surgical drains, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac.

Preferred Qualifications

• Travel experience preferred, not required.
• Preferred skills: titrate cardiac drips, titrate vasoactive drips, chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac.

Unit Details

• Patient population includes surgical and trauma-related diagnoses such as cellulitis, appendicitis, cholecystitis, diverticulitis, motor vehicle accidents, gun shots, stabbings, falls, various cancers, kidney stones, bowel obstruction, peripheral vascular disease, limb ischemia, hernia, and gangrene.
• Common procedures include cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation or closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, kidney stone removal, amputations, and fem pop bypass.
• Special equipment includes wound vacs, chest tubes, NG tube/Corpak, JP drains, Hemovac drains, and Penrose drains.
• Scheduling is as needed.
• Orientation includes 2 days of hospital orientation and 24 hours of floor training.
• Scrubs: all navy or navy on bottom/white top.
