Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Operating Room with 41 ORs, Level 1 Trauma Center
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts starting at 6:45 AM, with occasional floats to 8:45 AM, 10:45 AM, and up to 3 night shifts per contract
- Weekend and on-call shifts required as needed (approx. 6 on-call shifts per 8-week period)
- Float within scope to other Operating Rooms at the facility may be required
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Case types: General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, Plastic surgery
- No guaranteed hours
- First-time travelers are not accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- One completed travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma centers
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Colorado RN license verified through NURSYS within 60 days of start
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, education verification (accredited nursing school), and various federal/state checks within 60 days of start
- Drug testing within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (specific approved mask models required)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual updates if positive TB history
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via titer or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- COVID-19 vaccine proof or signed declination
- Annual competency exams and mandatory OSHA training with minimum passing scores
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam within 1 year and updated annually
- Color blindness testing via Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
- References: 2 professional references from the last 2 years, including one from the last year, from charge RN, manager, or supervisor
- Employment history verification for the last 3 years, with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Additional Notes
- Return to Office (RTO) days capped at 10 days maximum; no RTO allowed during specified blackout periods in 2026
- Facility-specific new employee orientation modules must be completed within the first two weeks of assignment
- Candidates with employment gaps of 15+ days are considered new and must meet all full requirements again
This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with trauma center experience and proficiency in Epic, seeking a travel contract in a Level 1 trauma center environment.
