Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry)

Location: Media, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:5

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a combined Medical-Surgical and Telemetry unit.
• Patient diagnoses include COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis, hospice care, post-operative abdominal and OB/GYN surgery, UTI, colitis, small bowel obstruction, and other common med/surg conditions.
• Must be able to float within scope to similar units as needed.
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
• Charting system: Epic.
• Facility type: Acute care with approximately 230 staffed beds.
• Scrub color: Navy blue.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Additional Requirements

• Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam within 1 year prior to start.
• Unit-specific competency exam required within 1 year prior to start.
• Fit test for respirators required within 1 year prior to start and annually thereafter.
• Physical exam or statement of good health within 1 year prior to first assignment, updated annually.
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold or T-Spot) within 6 months prior to start; chest x-ray required if TB test positive.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer and vaccine series or declination)
  • Tdap (recommended every 10 years, not required)
• Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season (September–April 1).
• 10-panel drug screen within 45 days of start, updated annually.
• Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal exclusions screening required.
• Three professional references required (most recent manager, previous manager, and peer; charge nurse references only if direct supervisor).
• Pennsylvania-specific clearances required: Child Abuse Search, Department of Aging Fingerprints, Department of Human Services Fingerprint Results, PATCH Search.

Work Environment & Other Details

• Guaranteed hours.
• Locals accepted within 75 miles but at a different rate.
• On-call is not required.
• Return-to-Office restrictions are at manager’s discretion.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs comfortable with night shifts and working in an acute care setting with diverse patient diagnoses.
