Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
- Schedule: Weekends every 3rd weekend, holidays as needed (expected to work 1 of 2 upcoming holidays and surrounding days such as Memorial Day or July 4th)
- Floating: May float to Emergency Transitional Care Unit (ETCU) as needed
- Call Requirements: None
- RTO (Return to Office): Maximum 7 days
- Blocked Schedule: Not approved
The Emergency Department is a 74-bed Level 1 Trauma Center with a 3-bed trauma bay and a secure behavioral health unit. The ETCU is a 22-bed expansion with telemetry capability and negative pressure rooms, serving as a staging area for patients awaiting further testing, consultation, or inpatient beds.
Candidates may care for COVID-19 patients. The facility is tobacco and fragrance free.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Licenses & Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., Trauma Nursing Core Course, Neonatal Resuscitation, Stroke Certification)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, fingerprinting (PA FBI), Child Abuse Clearance, and PATCH search
- Education verification (highest level of education)
- Professional references (2 within last 3 years)
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or full vaccine series)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Varicella vaccines or positive titer
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Seasonal flu vaccination or valid medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccine or valid exemption/declination
- Drug screening (9-panel negative within 1 year)
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency (pass/fail)
- Photo for badge (passport-style, professional)
- Completion of facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreement, code of conduct, and health & wellness commitment
- Completion of required Learning Management System (LMS) modules and new hire orientation

- Floating to Emergency Transitional Care Unit (ETCU) may require med/surg nursing skills
- ETCU is not an express admission or holding unit; provides inpatient-level care for patients awaiting disposition
- Facility is tobacco and fragrance free; candidates should be aware prior to submission

Sometimes the schedule can be confusing with rotating shifts and call schedules that don’t align well with your scheduled shifts. But again if there is a major concern they’ll try and work with you on it!
