Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN to provide backfill coverage. Candidates with ICU and ED experience will be considered. The position is based in a 31-bed Emergency Room serving all age groups, including behavioral health and acute patients.

Work Schedule

• 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Rotating weekends/as needed
• No call requirements
• Float as needed

Unit Details

• Emergency Department with 31 beds and 2 triage rooms
• Patient ratio typically 1:4, with exceptions during high volume or special circumstances
• Electronic Health Records primarily MedHost (ED) and Meditech (for admit holds and behavioral health patients)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications prior to start:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • HWC (Health Worker Certification) or Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI) or equivalent (available on-site)

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Extensive Emergency Room experience
• Professional, positive, compassionate, and team-oriented attitude

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Random drug screening and criminal background consent required
• Scrub color is traveler’s choice
• Facility serves a diverse patient population including geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients
• Located in a community with small-town charm and access to parks, trails, and cultural attractions

Note: Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for travel status.
