Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Travel Position - Reno, Nevada

Position Overview

  • Role: Respiratory Therapist (Adults)
  • Employment Type: Travel contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3x12-hour shifts, rotating days of the week; schedule varies based on department needs and may include weekends, holidays, and some call shifts
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Call Requirements: To be discussed during interview
  • Float Requirement: May be required to float within competency level
  • Holiday and Additional Shifts: May be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period
  • Cancellation Policy: Employer may call off shifts with 48 hours' notice for low census during the 13-week contract (full or partial shifts)

Facility Environment

  • Extremely busy, fast-paced environment serving a 500-mile radius
  • Level 2 trauma center with Stroke accreditation
  • Approximately 800 inpatient beds and 80 ER beds
  • Patient volume and pace comparable to a Level 1 trauma center

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform respiratory therapy procedures per protocol and physician orders to improve cardiopulmonary conditions in patients ranging from newborn to geriatric
  • Work primarily in critical care units, adult and pediatric general care, and possibly secondary care sites
  • Accountable for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of respiratory care for Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patients and families
  • Initiate or modify patient care plans under structured protocols
  • Properly document all patient records and department logs
  • Stay current with technological advances and clinical applications
  • Provide a positive patient experience by connecting with patients, explaining procedures, and practicing service recovery when needed
  • Direct patient care is a core component of this role

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Nevada
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
  • Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification
