Registered Nurse (Vascular Surgery) - Morgantown, WV

Job Details

• Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days
• Hours: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours per day (6:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
• Call Requirements:

  • One night of call per week
  • One weekend of call per month
  • Holiday call coverage as needed
  • Call response time: 30 minutes
  • Housing available when on call if needed
• Unit Orientation: 1 week
• Floating: May need to float within other services of the Heart and Vascular Institute

Specialty & Experience Requirements

• Must have experience in Vascular Surgery, Cardiac Surgery, or Thoracic Surgery
• Required vascular surgery experience includes:

  • Peripheral artery bypass
  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) repair (open and endovascular)
  • Carotid endarterectomies
  • Fistula creation
  • Amputations
  • Endovascular surgery (EVAR, TCAR, TAG)
• Experience with sedation and circulating in the OR is required/preferred
• Knowledge of open vascular and endovascular procedures is mandatory
• Thoracic surgery experience is helpful (including robotic, endoscopic, and open procedures)
• General surgery background may be acceptable if vascular experience is present

Common Cases

• Cardiac surgery: CABG, valve repair/replacement (open and robotic), ECMO, transplant
• Thoracic surgery: lung resection, VATS, esophagostomy, POEM, hiatal hernia repair, mediport placement, EGD, GI and respiratory stents
• Vascular surgery: diagnostic angiography, percutaneous interventions, surgical endarterectomy, dialysis access management, visceral arterial repair/intervention

Certifications & Licenses

• Required: BLS, ACLS
• Must provide a copy of nursing diploma during onboarding for POC license

Additional Information

• Must be able to circulate and sedate in the OR
• Charge nurse/supervisor present daily in the OR
• Scrub color: Ceil blue surgical scrubs (provided by hospital)
• Driver’s license address must be outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years before reapplying
• Previous travelers must have been gone for 2 years if they stayed for 1 full year previously
• Only 2 candidates can be submitted per opening at a time
• Travel teams must be submitted together
• Call is mandatory
• The unit is the Heart and Vascular Institute with 6 suites and 14-16 cases per day

Required Qualifications Summary

• Registered Nurse license valid for West Virginia
• Experience in vascular, cardiac, or thoracic surgery with emphasis on vascular procedures
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to circulate and sedate in the OR
• Willingness to work call shifts and holiday coverage
