ICU Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Battle Creek, Michigan
  • Contract length: 26 weeks
  • Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
  • Hours available: 36 or 48 per week
  • Must be available for the first 8 days of the assignment and the full week of orientation
  • Works every other weekend
  • First-time travelers are accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Michigan
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS issued by American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit Details

  • ICU with a mix of ICU and PCU patients
  • Typical patient ratios range from 1:1 to 4:1 depending on acuity
  • Vent patients are typically 2:1
  • High-acuity patients such as cooling, CRRT, or similar cases are 1:1
  • May float to other ICU and Med Surg units as needed

Clinical Skills and Experience

  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Multi-system organ failure care
  • IV insulin protocols
  • GI surgery care
  • Chronic and acute renal failure care, including CVVHD/CRRT
  • Arterial line management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line and PICC line care/management
  • Starting IVs
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • Emergency medication administration
  • Procedural sedation administration
  • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • CVA/acute stroke management
  • BiPAP and CPAP management
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • High-flow nasal cannula
  • ABG interpretation
  • ETT and NT suctioning
  • Ventilator management
