ICU RN Travel Contract

Overview

  • Location: Roanoke, Virginia
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night shift, 4x12 hours, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
  • Contract length: 26 weeks
  • Start schedule: 3x12s also noted in the source; up to 26 weeks available by request

Role Summary

  • ICU/PCU float RN
  • Must be comfortable working all ICU and PCU units
  • May float 2–3 times per shift

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Critical Care Float experience within the last year
  • 1 year of Critical Care Float experience
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • Experience with Epic
  • IV therapy including arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, IV initiation and maintenance
  • BiPAP and CPAP management
  • Ventilated patient care
  • Continuous IV sedation administration
  • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Surgical wound care with drains or wound vacs
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management

Scheduling Expectations

  • May work every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
  • One holiday per 13-week contract
  • All requested time off, block scheduling, and special scheduling requests must be submitted with the application

  • Arterial line management
  • Central/PICC line care
  • Blood product administration
  • IV initiation and maintenance
  • BiPAP and CPAP management
  • Ventilated patient care
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • Emergency medication administration
  • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Surgical wound care with drains or wound vacs
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • IV insulin protocol adherence

Additional Notes

  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Local candidates are accepted if they meet the radius rule
  • Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours
  • The facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
