Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER (Night Shift)

Location: Cartersville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks


Unit & Schedule Details

  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
  • Call: None
  • Floating: Within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Holidays: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it; if 2 holidays, work both; if 3 holidays, work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by AHA or ARC

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license for the state of Georgia (must be verified within 30 days prior to start)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required for ER specialty (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required for ER specialty (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification if applicable to specialty
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) course required within a few months of hire if applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification if required by unit
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ER and related specialties)
  • Color Blind Testing (minimum 80% score required; alternative evaluation possible)
  • General Competency Exam (required by agency)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (required by agency)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or negative chest x-ray if prior positive TB
  • TB Questionnaire updated annually (required regardless of TB result)
  • Immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine highly recommended (one dose within past 10 years)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (includes Amphetamines, Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, Cocaine, Opiates, Methadone, PCP, Propoxyphene, THC)

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time
  • Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 10 hours for 10-week assignment)
  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
  • References: 2 clinical references required by agency
  • Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
  • Verification of most recent work history required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)

Additional Notes

  • Locals accepted at same rate as travelers
  • Manager review of candidate profile within 48 hours after confirmation
  • Maximum 7-day return to office (RTO) turnaround time for credentialing
  • Candidates must review and sign facility Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
