Job Opportunity: Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Portland, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: Registered Nurse specializing in Cardiac Intermediate Care (IMC)
  • Shift: 36 hours per week, night shifts (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts per month
  • Floating: May float within Acute Care/IMC scope as needed
  • Block scheduling: Not guaranteed
  • Locals and first-time travelers accepted
  • Pending license accepted if application is submitted and received by licensing board (qualifies for 90-day license exemption)
  • No on-call required

Clinical Focus & Patient Population

  • Cardiology: Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), NSTEMI, Heart Failure management, pre/post catheterization care, arrhythmia management
  • Electrophysiology Services (EPS): Pacemaker placement, arrhythmia management
  • Cardiac Surgery: CABG, valve replacement, TAVR
  • Vascular Surgery: Amputations, femoral-popliteal bypass
  • Advanced Heart Failure: Pre/post heart transplant, Ventricular Assist Device (VAD), inotrope support
  • Special Equipment: Safe Patient Mobilization equipment including ceiling lifts in most patient rooms
  • Provider coverage: 24/7 on-call provider available; most teams have in-house provider 24/7

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Oregon
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Telemetry nursing, with at least 1 year of recent Cardiac PCU experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Cardiac telemetry skills and experience

Facility & Work Environment

  • Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care, Magnet recognized, Teaching hospital, Level I Trauma Center
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Parking: $16 daily pass (8am-5pm); public transportation encouraged

Additional Notes

  • Maximum of 5 days of requested time off (RTO) approved for 13-week contracts; requests for more require contract extension
  • All time off requests must be submitted at contract start
  • Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up to start date; planned unavailability must be communicated early
  • Professional appearance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • Candidates must complete required Compass training modules before badge issuance
  • Respirator fit testing preferred before start; onsite fit testing available with medical clearance
  • References and employment application must include at least 7 years of work history with city and state for each position
