CVICU

Overview

• Travel/Contract RN role in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
• Day shift: 6:45 AM–7:15 PM.
• 36 or 48 hours may be offered.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Every other weekend required.
• Float requirement: yes.
• Locals are accepted at the same rate.
• RTO after booking is not allowed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• CVICU experience with 2 years of experience
• CVICU experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Experience / Skills

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• ECMO
• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
• Post Cardiac Surgery (directly from the OR)
• Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
• Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD/RVAD)
• Arterial line management
• Blood Product Administration
• Central line care/management
• Continuous IV sedation
• Titrate Cardiac drips
• Care of Ventilated Patient
• Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Isolation Precautions/PPE

Preferred Skills

• Accessing/Managing Ports
• Titrate Vasoactive drips
• Assist with Chest Tube Insertion/Removal
• BiPAP/CPAP management/maintenance
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Ventilator Management

Unit Details

• Post Open Heart Recovery Unit
• Also takes thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR
• Unit procedures include CRRT, Impella, and IABP

Scheduling / Staffing Notes

• Target ratios: 1:1 nights, 2:1 weekends
• Self-scheduling
• Hospital orientation is during week one, with classes each day

Additional Notes

• Navy or white scrubs, or a combination of the two
• EPIC is used on the unit
