Operating Room RN Travel Contract

Overview

Specialty: Operating room
Employment type: Travel/Contract
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Shift: Days, Friday through Sunday, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
Contract length: 13 weeks
Weekend schedule required
On-call required: 1 shift per week
Floating: May float within skill set, rarely
Block scheduling not accommodated
Local candidates not accepted; must live at least 50 miles from the facility
First-time travelers not accepted
General OR and trauma experience required
Works with all service lines except cardiovascular

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
OR - Operating Room (3 years of experience)
OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
BLS issued by American Heart Association
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
PALS issued by American Heart Association
CNOR
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
General surgery case experience: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple
Neurology case skills/experience: Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion
Orthopedic case skills/experience: Arthroscopy, Carpal Tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Open reduction of fractures
Organ donation experience
Code response experience
Malignant hyperthermia management
Electrosurgical units operation
Fiber optic light sources/cords operation
Hana tables operation

Case and Clinical Experience

Bariatric: laparoscopic-assisted cases
General surgery: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, inguinal/umbilical hernia repair, laparoscopic-assisted procedures, mastectomy, partial/total thyroidectomy, Whipple
Neurology: cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion
Orthopedics: arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, closed and open reduction of fractures
Plastic surgery: free flap microvascular
Transplant: organ donation
Urology: cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy
Trauma: amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, motor vehicle accident with multiple injuries

Additional Clinical Skills

Emergency response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia
Blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety
Specimen handling and labeling, universal protocol/time-out, urinary bladder catheterization
Equipment experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables
