Overview

• Night ICU RN assignment in Omaha, Nebraska
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours guaranteed
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• RN
• 2 years of unit experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Driver’s license required at submittal

Unit Details

• Department: ICU
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• Medical patients may be staffed at 1:5 and PCU at 1:4 when downgraded
• Common patient types include COPD, pneumonia, CVA, TIA, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and neuro
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Common drips include vasopressors, insulin, TNK, heparin, IV antibiotics, and sedatives
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Nurse aids/patient care techs are on the unit
• 24/7 critical care coverage with E-ICU staffed by nurse and APRN
• RNs must read and interpret tele/monitor strips
• RT equipment on the unit includes vents and BiPAPs

Schedule

• Shifts: 0630-1900 and 1830-0700
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday requirement varies based on unit needs
• Schedule is done by the unit scheduler

Floating

• May float to PCU and Medical floors

Orientation

• First week system orientation and onboarding
• 1-2 unit orientation shifts

Additional Notes

• Radius rule: 50 miles
• Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• RTO must be provided upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• RN pass/fail exam during orientation; 90% required to pass
