Medical-Surgical Acute Care RN

Location

• Peoria, Illinois

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour night shifts

Required Qualifications

• Active IL RN licensure or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification
• Negative drug screen for all panels
• 4 digits of SSN
• Middle initial
• Requested time off

Preferred

• 1+ year of hospital experience
• ACLS for Charge RN position

Unit Details

• Medical-Surgical Acute Care / MedSurg Acute Care
• 31 beds
• Ratios: 4-5:1 on days, 5-6:1 on nights; surgical staffing may go up to 1:6 on days and 1:7 on nights
• General medical patients with various diagnoses
• 24-hour Charge RN coverage; Charge RN may have a patient assignment
• 3-4 PCTs on days and 2-3 PCTs on nights
• Patients may require oxygen up to 6L NC and stable BiPAP/CPAP at night or as needed
• Telemetry is monitored remotely by the house-wide telemetry department
• Unit equipment is primarily Phillips

Responsibilities

• Titrate Heparin drips
• Attempt IV starts and use unit resources if unsuccessful
• Float to other units as needed

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation per policy
• No call requirement

Orientation

• Two 12-hour shifts with a unit preceptor

Additional Notes

• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Local clinicians receive a reduced rate
• Any color scrubs are allowed; staff provide their own
• No pediatric scrubs
• Hospitalist/Intensivist in house 24/7
• RT in house 24/7
• Pharmacy prepares all medications
