Medical Surgical RN

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Wilmington, North Carolina
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
• 36-hour and 48-hour contracts accepted
• Longer contracts accepted through 2/27/2026
• Unit ratio: 1:6
• Adults and geriatrics; general Med/Surg patients
• Daily census is approximately 43

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty
• Must be able to work holidays

Preferred

• CPI preferred
• Charge nurse experience preferred for night shift travelers

Schedule and Assignment Details

• Call required as needed
• Every other weekend required
• Float required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding
• RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite

Unit Procedures and Clinical Details

• Heparin drips
• Wound vac dressing changes
• High flow oxygen
• Limited short-term BiPap with respiratory support; no additional training needed
• No PCU level patients on this unit

Orientation and Work Environment

• Unit orientation: 24 hours
• Scrubs: Navy

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers accepted
• Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team
• Staff may be required to report during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster
• Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, with preassignment to units as needed
• All travelers and staff are required to attend unit team meetings
