Oncology Nurse

Overview

• Travel/contract role in New Orleans, Louisiana
• 13-week assignment
• Day shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
• 36 hours per week
• First-time travelers welcome
• Float required
• Every other weekend coverage
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4

Patient Population

• Hematology
• Medical oncology
• Bone marrow transplant
• Gynecologic and surgical oncology

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Oncology (2 years of experience)
• Oncology experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Hematology experience
• Surgical Oncology experience
• Bone Marrow Transplant experience
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Setting

• 7-bed positive pressure wing for bone marrow transplant and acute leukemia patients
• Bedside central venous catheter placements and bone marrow biopsies

Equipment / Workflow

• Alaris IV pumps
• Barcode medication administration
• SCD machines
• Alaris feeding pumps

Additional Compliance Items

• Competency exam
• Physical exam
• Fit testing
• Negative TB screening or chest X-ray
• Drug screen
• Immunization/documentation requirements for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, tetanus/diphtheria/Tdap, and seasonal flu
• CLEAR enrollment for workforce access
• Background checks and verification items required before start

• Travelers may be assigned to an emergency team during facility emergency events and may be expected to remain on site or join relief coverage until the event passes
