Oncology Travel Nurse

Location

New Orleans, Louisiana

Assignment Details

Travel/contract role
13-week contract
Day shift, 3x12 hours
36 hours per week
Weekend coverage: every other weekend
First-time travelers welcome
Float requirement
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4

Unit Overview

Hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant, and gynecologic/surgical oncology patient population
7-bed positive pressure wing for BMT and acute leukemia patients
Bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Louisiana
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Oncology (2 years of experience)
Oncology experience within the last year
Hematology experience
Surgical Oncology experience
Bone Marrow Transplant experience
BLS issued by American Heart Association
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Requirements

Current valid driver’s license, state ID, or government photo ID
Resume/application
Skills checklist
7 years of employment history, if applicable, with explanation for gaps
Current valid phone number and email address
Competency exam completed within 1 year of start and at least 80%
Physical exam within 12 months of start
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
Background check and required screenings
Health documentation, including TB, MMR, hepatitis B, varicella, flu, and Tdap requirements
Fit testing and identity verification requirements
Emergency preparedness acknowledgment for hurricane season

Work Expectations

May be assigned to an emergency team during an emergency event and expected to remain at the facility or serve on the relief team until the event passes
