Oncology Travel Nurse

Location

  • New Orleans, Louisiana

Assignment Details

  • Travel/contract role
  • 13-week contract
  • Day shift, 3x12 hours
  • 36 hours per week
  • Weekend coverage: every other weekend
  • First-time travelers welcome
  • Float requirement
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4

Unit Overview

  • Hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant, and gynecologic/surgical oncology patient population
  • 7-bed positive pressure wing for BMT and acute leukemia patients
  • Bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Oncology (2 years of experience)
  • Oncology experience within the last year
  • Hematology experience
  • Surgical Oncology experience
  • Bone Marrow Transplant experience
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

  • ONS

Additional Requirements

  • Current valid driver’s license, state ID, or government photo ID
  • Resume/application
  • Skills checklist
  • 7 years of employment history, if applicable, with explanation for gaps
  • Current valid phone number and email address
  • Competency exam completed within 1 year of start and at least 80%
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
  • Background check and required screenings
  • Health documentation, including TB, MMR, hepatitis B, varicella, flu, and Tdap requirements
  • Fit testing and identity verification requirements
  • Emergency preparedness acknowledgment for hurricane season

Work Expectations

  • May be assigned to an emergency team during an emergency event and expected to remain at the facility or serve on the relief team until the event passes
