Registered Nurse - CVOR (Travel/Contract)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Assignment Length: 17 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts
    • Primary shift: 06:40 AM – 07:10 PM
    • One biweekly shift: 09:40 AM – 10:10 PM
  • Schedule includes weekday and weekend call
  • Assignment duration accepted: 17 to 21 weeks
  • Specialty focus: Cardiac/Thoracic care (Tier 2)
  • Key clinical skills:
    • ECMO
    • CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
    • Ascending aorta procedures
    • LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device)
    • Thoracic surgery including robotic (Da Vinci Xi)
    • Lobectomy, VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery), lung resection
    • Mitral valve procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • Acute care experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including SSN trace, nationwide sex offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification as applicable to specialty
  • Wisconsin state-mandated caregiver screening and BID form (time sensitive)
  • Drug screening per facility and Vaya standards
  • Immunizations and health documents:
    • TB test or chest X-ray with questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titers, with medical/religious exemptions accepted
    • Varicella vaccination or titer, with exemptions accepted
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (annual requirement during flu season)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof as applicable
    • Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in Microbiology
  • Facility-specific forms including communicable disease form, flu exemption forms, and badge photo (passport-style)
  • Annual skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exams as required

Testing & Competency Exams

  • Telemetry exams (Adult and Pediatric) required for applicable units, with strict passing criteria and remediation process
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication competency required annually
  • Rhythm interpretation remediation course required if second attempt at telemetry exam is failed
  • National certification verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration as applicable

Additional Notes

  • Physical exam is required to meet agency standards but not by the facility
  • Fit mask testing completed onsite by facility
  • Employment application required for all candidates
  • References and skills checklist must be current and submitted as part of credentialing
