Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: 3x12 hour variable shifts (Night 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM / Day 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours: 36 hours per week (60 hours guaranteed per 2 weeks, with possible call-off for one 12-hour shift every 2 weeks)
Unit Information
- High Risk Labor and Delivery unit including OB Triage/Testing, Labor & Delivery/Antepartum, OR suites, and PACU rooms
- Average daily deliveries: ~7, with up to 14 patients during inductions and high-risk antepartum cases
- OB Triage averages 4-5 third trimester testing patients plus additional triage patients daily
- May float within scope to similar units if needed
- Weekend work required every other weekend
- Block scheduling not accommodated
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alaska
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Certifications:
- ACLS
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- AWHONN
- NIHSS
- NRP
- PALS
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Candidate Requirements
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
- No on-call required
- Time off requests approved individually and must be included with submission
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application required with at least 5 years of employment history (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Skills checklist required annually for applicable units

Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Immunizations and screenings required:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with declination option
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination (positive titer and vaccine series required for Alaska placements)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with declination option
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to infection control policies
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates (RespSafety virtual questionnaire)
- Fit mask testing required for travel candidates, updated annually
Background and Compliance
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- Various state-specific background and registry checks as applicable
- Education verification required for nursing degree (international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report)
- NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
- E-Verify attestation required
- Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background)
Training and Competency
- Annual completion of regulatory and specialty-specific Workramp modules required
- Medication competency exam as applicable
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) training required for all L&D RNs, met by AWHONN or NCC certification or Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam
- Other certifications and competencies as required by unit description and clinical tracks
Additional Notes
- Candidates may be required to float to other nearby facilities within the system
- Time off requests must be submitted with application and approved individually
- No block scheduling accommodations
- Locals (within 50 miles) are not eligible for this assignment
