Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - BMT Unit
Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- 51-bed unit specializing in blood cancers
- Patient care includes chemotherapy, biotherapies, stem cell transplants, and CAR-T therapies
- Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 3-4:1, may flex based on staffing and unit needs
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color: Navy
- Floating required between BMT/Oncology and CTU units, and possibly to sister facilities within the metro region
- Weekend work required as per unit needs
- On-call not required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Minimum 2 years of Bone Marrow Transplant experience, including experience within the last year
- Hematology experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC)
Special Requirements & Competencies
- Comfortable working in flexible staffing ratio environments
- Must be able to float within scope to related units
- Required annual or recent (within 1 year) competencies and certifications include:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
- OSHA mandatory training
- Fit mask testing within 12 months required (specific mask models)
- Immunizations and health screenings required and must be current:
- Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination
- Drug testing required within 30 days of start and annually thereafter
- Color blindness testing via Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA (not Chiropractor)
Background and Documentation Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado state checks, education verification (accredited nursing school), and various federal/state databases within 60 days of start
- Employment history verification for the last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Two professional references from the last two years, including one from the last year, preferably from a Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
- Driver’s license/state ID with clear copies of front and back
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Proof of legal name change if applicable
- State-specific CAPS check results within 60 days of start
Additional Notes
- Return to Office (RTO) days limited to 10 maximum, with blackout periods during late June to early July, early September, and late October to early November 2026
- Facility may consider flexibility for harder-to-fill positions
- Facility-specific new employee orientation modules must be completed within the first two weeks of assignment
- Nurse must confirm renewal plans for any certifications expiring within 90 days of assignment start to avoid clearance issues
This position is ideal for experienced BMT/Oncology RNs comfortable with night shifts, flexible staffing, and floating within related units. First-time travelers with the required experience are welcome to apply.
