Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Pediatrics) - Travel/Contract

Location

Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Pediatrics focus)

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shift, 4x10 hours (8:30 PM - 7:00 AM), Tuesday to Friday, with holiday rotation
  • Orientation: First week may include day shifts for orientation before starting night shift schedule
  • On-call Requirement: Yes
    • On-call rotation included
    • Must report within 1 hour if called in
    • On-call hours: Mon-Fri 7 PM - 7 AM; Weekend call split 7 AM - 7 PM and 7 PM - 7 AM
  • Floating: May be required to float within pediatric imaging locations on the same campus for critical coverage

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Pediatric Radiology Technologist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Pediatric Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
  • ARRT certification
  • BLS certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
  • Experience as an X-Ray Technician

Important Notes

  • Radius rule: 60 miles; local candidates accepted at a reduced rate
  • Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extended assignments during peak months (August-September) if this is a concern

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Proof of work eligibility (I-9 attestation and completed form)
  • Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
  • Copy of Social Security Card or SSN verification
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year work/living history
    • SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
  • Employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Verification of last 3 clinical employers (or fewer if applicable)
  • Clinical references: minimum 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Competency exams and color blindness testing prior to start
  • Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed before orientation
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start; annual renewal required
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
    • Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest X-ray if prior positive; annual TB questionnaire required
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Aug 1 - Mar 31) or medical/religious exemption; documentation must be uploaded by deadline

Additional Notes

  • Radiation badge process may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start patient care until badge is received
  • Floating to other pediatric imaging locations on campus may be required for critical staffing coverage
  • Orientation includes completion of online modules (~2 hours) and compliance with facility-specific instructions
  • Candidates must comply with all facility policies and complete all required documentation prior to start
