Job Opportunity: IV Therapy Vascular Access Team Registered Nurse
Location: Burlington, Vermont
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Description
- Position on Vascular Access Team with 12-hour rotating shifts (primarily days, flexible night rotations as needed).
- Schedule includes every other weekend; rotation pattern typically one week nights followed by one week days, with possible mid-week rotations.
- Candidates should be flexible to cover critical vacancies, including night shifts.
- Suitable candidates include ER RNs and infusion RNs.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Vermont.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Vascular Access).
- Strong IV skills including AVA certification and PICC skills preferred.
- Experience with large trauma Level 1 cases within the last year.
- Epic electronic medical record experience within the past 2 years (mandatory).
- Ability to assess PICC lines, perform dressing changes, administer TPA, place peripheral IVs, troubleshoot lines and ports, draw blood as needed, and float to other related tasks.
- BLS certification required.
- Prior travel experience preferred but not mandatory.
Certifications & Compliance
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA standards).
- ACLS, PALS, and other certifications as applicable per unit/job description.
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- Education verification as required.
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration.
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and updated annually.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required.
- Color blindness testing required.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- N95 fit test required prior to assignment and updated annually.
- Immunizations: Tdap within 10 years, 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B series or declination, Varicella vaccines or positive titer, flu vaccination or exemption during flu season, COVID-19 vaccination or declination, pneumonia vaccination or declination if applicable.
- Drug testing as required.
Additional Requirements
- Must have reliable personal transportation; public transportation is not accessible in the area.
- Must complete all required facility-specific documents and training modules prior to start, including EPIC and Cornerstone modules.
- Employment gaps over 90 days must be explained.
- Complete and submit all work history details including bed count, EMR, and facility type.
- Must comply with facility dress code and telephone usage policies.
- Required to complete Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent forms and criminal background checks specific to Vermont.
- Time-sensitive submission of photo for badge and auto registration forms required.
- COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work, including mask-wearing and social distancing requirements.
Work Environment
- Monday through Sunday coverage with no block schedules.
- Orientation offered bi-weekly on Mondays.
- Facility is a Level 1 trauma center with a focus on critical care and vascular access.
