Surgical Technologist Position - Rochester, Michigan
Job Summary
- Assist the surgical team by handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during general surgical procedures.
- Prepare the operating room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the surgery type.
- Ensure proper functioning of instruments and equipment; report repairs as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized operating room environment.
- Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients with sensitivity to their care and privacy.
- Assist Registered Nurses with admitting, transferring, and discharging patients in the OR.
- Participate in ongoing education, audits, and department initiatives.
- May train or precept new Surgical Technologists.
- Respond to emergent situations following established procedures.
Work Schedule
- 3 days per week
- 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Total 36 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within one month of start date.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience working in Labor & Delivery unit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Excellent computer skills.
Additional Information
- One week of return-to-office (RTO) allowed.
- Overtime is billable after 48 hours.
- Commitment to safety, infection control, and departmental policies is essential.
