Overview

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour days
• Hours per week: 36
• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• ACLS
• Level I trauma experience
• ICU experience

Unit Details

• Surgical ICU (SICU)
• 13 beds
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• Can also be 1:1 or 1:3
• Common patient types include post surgical, open abdomens, multi system trauma, and endovascular cases
• RN titrates drips
• Common drips include pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin
• Charge nurse available as staffing allows
• House supervisor available 24/7
• Nurse aids/patient care techs are present at a 1:10 ratio
• Intensivist coverage is in house approximately 0700-1900, with tele medicine intensivist support and an attending on call
• RT is in the ICU 24/7
• RT equipment includes vents, CPAP, and Bipap
• Tele/monitor techs are on the unit, and nurses read and interpret their own strips
• Floating may include lower levels of care, where the traveler would take a full team
• Floating assignments may include 3 patients on a Stepdown unit or 5-6 patients in the general med environment

Schedule and Expectations

• 12-hour shifts, 7:00-7:30
• 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
• Every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• No specific scrub color required

Orientation

• 12 hours of non-billable orientation
• Unit-specific orientation includes EPIC training, educator time, shadowing, and preceptor time on the unit

• Middle initial
• Requested time off
• Negative drug screen for all panels
