Intensive Care Unit RN

Contract Length

13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts, 7p-7a
• Day and night shifts are available
• 36 hours per week
• Usually every other weekend, possibly less depending on need
• Holidays as needed
• No call or standby requirement

Unit Details

• ICU and PCU combination unit
• 16 ICU beds and 14 PCU beds
• ICU nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1-2
• PCU nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3
• Charge nurse does not take an assignment and supports the whole unit
• CNA ratio: 1:8
• Intensivist in house 7 days a week, mostly days
• eICU support for nights
• Hospitalist in house 24/7
• RT in ICU 24/7
• Tele tech on unit
• Floating between ICU and PCU patients within the unit
• First to float

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• 1 year of experience
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Thermaguard/Zoll cooling experience with TTM
• EPIC experience
• Previous travel experience
• Comfortable reading and interpreting tele
• Able to titrate drips

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of ICU experience

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs
• Unit orientation is 2 on the unit
• Travelers do not get specialty patients, including vented, cardiac post PCI, impella, IABP, stroke TNK, TTM with Zoll cooling/thermoguard, vascular, traumas, EtOH, sepsis, OD, some abdominal trauma and surgical, and CRRT patients
• RT manages vents, respiratory treatments, specimens, and bronchs
• Scheduling support is provided, and block scheduling may be considered if it works with unit needs
