Experience & Skills

  • Experience mixing own medications for moderate sedation
  • Comfortable with teamwork and assisting in various roles within the Cath Lab
  • Ability to circulate, chart, and work in pre- and post-procedure areas

Work Environment & Equipment

  • 3 Cath Lab suites/labs
  • Average 4 cases per day
  • Common procedures: Emergent Revascularization, Left and Right Heart Catheterization, Peripheral Diagnostic/Interventional, Cardioversion, Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE), Device management, Pericardiocentesis, Temporary Pacemaker
  • Equipment used: EPIC EMR, Philips Xper (Hemo), Siemens C-Arm, IABP, Impella, Shockwave, Laser, IFR/FFR, IVUS, Rotapro

Team Structure

  • 4-person teams: 2 RNs, 1 Radiologic Tech, 1 RCIS or Radiologic Tech
  • Charge/Team Lead manages daily operations and assists in labs

Scheduling & Shifts

  • Typically 40 hours per week
  • Shift patterns include:
    • 2 shifts of 10 hours and 2 shifts of 8 hours per week
    • Occasionally 3 shifts of 8 hours and 1 shift of 12 hours
  • Shift times: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM and 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
  • Schedule posted 17 days in advance for 6-week periods

On-Call & Weekend Requirements

  • 1-2 weeknight on-call shifts per week
  • Every third weekend on call (Friday to Monday morning)
  • Every other holiday on call
  • Call response time: 20 minutes

Orientation & Training

  • 2 days of unit/department-specific orientation in the Cath Lab

Additional Information

  • Floating to Heart and Vascular Pre/Post areas as needed
  • Scrub color and dress code provided; dedicated work shoes required (hospital will provide lead apron if needed)
  • Bring your own lock for locker
  • Radius rule: must live within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed part-time, full-time, or PRN with any related facilities
  • Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs comfortable with moderate sedation medication preparation, working in a fast-paced interventional cardiology environment, and flexible with varied shift patterns and on-call responsibilities.
