Job Description
- Position at a major hospital campus in Cleveland, Ohio.
- Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse role.
- Shifts: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (3x12's), rotating day/night shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shift rotation may be required based on hospital needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass/fail testing.
Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignment.
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted).
- Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license.
- Certifications required:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Pass ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate tests during orientation.
Certifications & Competencies
- Annual renewal of BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
- Pass/Fail testing for ECG and medication dosing during orientation (SafeMedicate).
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually.
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
Background & Compliance Checks
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- SSN trace
- Nationwide sex offender check
- OFAC, FACIS Level 3
- Education verification
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing after 4/11/2025).
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually. PAPRs approved case-by-case.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap every 10 years
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella (boosters required if titers negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (booster if negative/equivocal)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start, updated annually. TB questionnaire required if history of positive TB.
- Eye exam required within 1 year of start for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025.
Onboarding & Training
- Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
- Modules include training videos and tests; videos must be watched before tests.
- Onboarding process may take multiple days and must be completed before clearance to start.
- Facility covers cost of 4 hours of module time; additional time not covered.
- Candidates returning to the facility with less than a 6-month gap may not need to repeat modules.
Additional Notes
- Employment application must include 3 years of prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty.
- Two professional references required from recent employment within one year, from a manager or supervisor (co-worker references not accepted).
- Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility-specific policies and testing requirements.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, who are comfortable with rotating shifts and meeting comprehensive credentialing and compliance standards.
