Radiation Therapist

Overview

• Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
• Schedule: Days, 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Radiation Therapist (1 year of experience)
• Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
• ARRT
• Graduation from a radiation therapy technologist program

Preferred Qualifications

• Elekta experience

Job Responsibilities

• Administer radiation therapy according to physician instructions and the patient’s treatment plan
• Enter data into computer systems and adjust equipment controls to regulate dosage
• Assist physicians, radiation oncologists, clinical physicists, and others with radiation treatment planning
• Construct patient immobilization devices as ordered by physicians
• Maintain patient and billing records, reports, and files according to department policies and procedures
• Perform routine and complex radiation therapy treatments, including total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high brachytherapy
• Prepare equipment and room for patient care
• Use protective equipment and procedures to ensure safety
• Perform quality assurance procedures per state and federal guidelines
• Provide on-the-job clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists
