Job Description

• Operating Room Registered Nurse needed for 8- to 12-hour shifts.
• Primarily day and evening shifts with varied start times (7-5:30, 7-3, 9-5, 11-7, 3-11, and 11-11).
• No self-scheduling for travelers; block scheduling allowed if it meets unit needs.
• Float to outpatient surgery as needed.

Unit Details

• Operating Room with 9 OR suites, 1 procedure room, and 1 hybrid room.
• Open 24/7 with an average of 35-45 cases per day.
• Common cases include general surgery, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedic robotics (Da Vinci, Rosa), neuro spine, trauma, vascular, pediatrics (dental and ENT), and emergent cases.
• No cardiovascular OR or labor & delivery coverage (except C-sections).

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse license appropriate for the state.
• 2-3 years of experience in the OR specialty.
• 2-3 previous travel assignments required.
• Orthopedic experience required.
• Experience passing arms in and out for robotic surgeries is mandatory.
• Must have experience with all specialties for evening/night shifts.
• Must be comfortable as the only RN overnight with 2 techs.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred.
• Scrubbing as an RN is a plus but not required.

Call and On-Call Requirements

• One weeknight on-call shift (7p-7a) on a rotating basis.
• One weekday call every two weeks (Monday-Thursday, nights and weekends 7p-7a or 7-11p).
• One weekend 24-hour on-call shift per month (7a-7p).
• Holiday call rotation as needed.
• Call response time: 30 minutes; if more than 30 minutes away, must stay on-site.

Orientation and Training

• Unit-specific orientation: 3 shifts over 1 week.
• Facility support and teaching available for those with minimal experience in one service line.
• M-F 7a-3:30p shifts available for those willing to learn or refresh skills.

Additional Information

• Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility.
• Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years.
• Previous travelers must have been gone for 2 years after 1 full year on assignment.
• Only 2 candidates submitted per opening; travel teams must be submitted together.
• Background disclosures required at submission.
• Scrubs provided for RNs and OR techs.
• No aides or housekeeping; techs responsible for room turnover.
• Charge nurse coverage from 7a-7p; travelers rotate through charge nurse duties.
• OR staff primarily consists of travelers.
