Cardiac PCU RN

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Seattle, Washington
• 13-week assignment
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to like units
• Unit does not accept first-time travelers

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Washington
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart&Stroke
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart&Stroke
• NIHSS
• Experience working with Cardiac patients
• Experience working with Post-Operative Open Heart patients
• Experience working with Vascular patients
• Experience working with Stroke patients
• Experience with surgical telemetry
• Experience with vascular surgery patients, including groin and radial band management
• IV insertion skills
• Experience with care and management of invasive lines
• Experience with chest tube setup and care
• Experience with sternal precautions
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

• VAD experience
• TAVR experience

• Heart failure
• Pre/post cath lab patients with or without interventions
• Stroke patients with cardiac involvement
• Specialized structural heart support
• Chest tubes
• Sternal precautions
• Breathing treatments
• Chest tube set-up/care
• CPAP/BiPap
• Trach care
• Blood/blood products administration
• Cardioversion/defibrillation
• Epicardial pacer management
• LVAD
• Open heart 24–28 hours post-op
• Tele interpretation, dysrhythmia interpretation and management

Work Setting Notes

• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 across the board, with 1:5 possible at midnight
