Assignment Details

• Travel/contract position
• Night shift
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend
• Can offer a longer assignment through 01/02/2027
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• Can approve 40 hours for time off
• Time off around July 4th cannot be approved
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Must adhere to float policy

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Stepdown experience with 2 years of experience
• Stepdown experience within the last year
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS

Unit Overview

• Adult step-down unit caring for thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgical patients
• 28-bed unit with acute-care and intermediate care beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 4–5:1 in acute care and 3:1 in intermediate care

Patient Population

• CABG
• Cardiac valve repair and replacement
• AAA repair
• Lung resection
• Esophagectomy
• Heart and lung transplant
• Limb amputations
• Femoral popliteal bypass
• Carotid endarterectomy
• Fresh lobectomies
• Patients receiving thrombolytic TPA
• Patients on select cardiac drips and arterial lines
