Job Opportunity: CT Tech

Location: Johns Island, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide quality imaging and patient care in both X-ray and CT modalities.
  • Explain procedures effectively to patients and ensure competency in performed procedures.
  • Produce diagnostic images for interpretation by licensed practitioners.
  • Possible floating to similar units within scope to meet facility needs.

Schedule

  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CT Technologist license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of CT Technologist experience within the last year
  • Registered Technologist in Computed Tomography (ARRT (C))
  • Registered Technologist in Radiography (ARRT (R))
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • South Carolina Radiologic Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) certification

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active, unencumbered SC license or registration as applicable.
  • Primary source verification required.
  • Certifications must be current and not expiring within 30 days of start date.
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS for pediatric units).

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands.
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually.
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B.
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest X-ray if prior positive.
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season or medical/religious exemption accepted.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required.
  • Background check covering 7 years of residence/employment history, including national and state criminal checks.
  • Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed.
  • Proof of 2 clinical references required.
  • Employment application must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps.
  • Color blindness test required prior to start.
  • Competency exams required as applicable.
  • Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start (approx. 2 hours).
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge required before start.

Additional Notes

  • Radius rule: candidates must live within 60 miles of the facility.
  • Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
  • Facility is a teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma designation.
  • Charting system: EPIC.
  • Parking available with a one-time $20 pass for nights and weekends.
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; candidates should consider this before accepting or extending contracts.
