Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry

Shift Details

  • Night shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13 weeks

Unit and Patient Population

  • Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit
  • Patient ratios: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
  • Patient diagnoses include medical surgical, post interventional, neuro overflow, surgical overflow, pre/post operative, high risk, high functioning, high turnover, and high paced unit
  • Special procedures: phlebotomy
  • Unit closed on Sundays; may float within service line or work in another area on Sundays

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Competency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience and skill in acute medicine
  • Experience and skill in tube feeding procedures

Prior Travel Experience

  • First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Licensure and Certifications

  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (refer to unit descriptions)

Scheduling and Work Requirements

  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • No on-call requirement
  • No block scheduling accommodation
  • Must live at least 75 miles from the facility (local radius rule)
  • Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is expected

Compliance and Background Checks

  • Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver's license)
  • Criminal background check within 6 months required (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, sex offender, and international if applicable)
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required prior to start
  • State-specific searches and registries required for Missouri and Illinois placements
  • Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab assignments
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel, must be current throughout assignment

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination required (Tdap every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold acceptable)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity required (positive titer, vaccination, or medical statement)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 - April 1)
  • Hepatitis B declination required (vaccination not mandatory)

Orientation and Facility Policies

  • Orientation modules required through online platform unless completed in current calendar year
  • Must review and sign facility policies including HIPAA, latex allergy, confidentiality, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies prior to start
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
  • Vehicle registration required for day shift workers (not applicable for night shift)
  • Parking available with monthly passes (fees apply except for straight night shifts)

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred within last year)
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam and unit-specific competency exams required annually
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all new and extension candidates starting 3/31/25 or later; must be completed within 1 week of assignment
  • Floating within service line expected; unit closed Sundays

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced telemetry unit with a supportive team environment. Candidates must be prepared to meet all licensure, certification, and compliance requirements prior to start.
