Respiratory Therapist

Job Overview

• Travel/contract role in Saint Louis, Missouri
• Night shift: 3x12 hours
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• First-time travelers accepted
• Every third weekend required
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Pending license accepted
• Up to 7 days of requested time off allowed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (2 years of experience)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Expectations

• Work in intensive care units and general floors
• Care for patients with acute and chronic respiratory diseases
• Manage mechanically ventilated patients
• Perform ABG interpretation
• Provide precepting support to respiratory therapy students when needed

Required Skills and Procedures

• Endotracheal tube suctioning
• Extubation
• Nasal airway suctioning
• Oral airway placement
• Oropharyngeal suctioning
• Sputum specimen collection
• Tracheostomy suctioning
• Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (INo), Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, and Xopenex administration
• Aerosol setup via mask and trach
• Metered dose inhaler setup
• Hand-held, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic nebulizer use
• High-flow nasal cannula
• BiPAP and CPAP management
• Troubleshooting high-pressure ventilator alarms
• Weaning from mechanical ventilation

• Epic experience is required
• Government-issued ID is required
• Two professional references are required
• A unit-specific skills checklist is required within 1 year of start
