Required Qualifications

  • Georgia RN license
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • 2 years of Stepdown experience in an acute care setting
  • Must be able to read and interpret strips

Preferred

  • NIHSS
  • Ability to pull pacer wires

Unit Details

  • 44 beds
  • 8 semiprivate rooms
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 in the posting; unit notes list 1:5
  • Telemetry: Yes
  • Floating: May float to ICU and would only take stepdown patients unless ICU experience is noted
  • Floor orientation: 3 shifts
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holidays: Must be flexible and work as needed, including holidays and days around holidays

Clinical Setting

  • Cardiac stepdown unit
  • Common patient types include CABG, cardiovascular surgery, CHF, afib with RVR, chest tubes, and other cardiac/post-op cases
  • Drips used include Cardizem, amiodarone, dobutamine, dopamine renal dose, lasix, bumex, heparin, primicor, and vaprosol
  • Vent support includes BiPap, CPAP, vapotherm, and high flow oxygen; no full vents

Additional Notes

  • Strict 75-mile radius rule based on the address on the traveler’s driver’s license
  • Clinical interview or auto-offer based on resume review
  • Must be flexible with floating
  • If unable to take ICU-level patients, the traveler may be asked to task in the ICU
  • Dress code restrictions: natural colored hair, no fake nails or shellac, no facial piercing, no visible tattoos
