Registered Nurse - Rehab

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Inpatient Rehab Unit with 15 beds
Staff per shift:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse (full load), 2 RNs, 1 CNA
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse (full load), 2 RNs, 1 CNA
Patient Ratios: Typically 5:1, maximum 6:1
Equipment used: Vital signs machines, transfer equipment (Hoyer lift, sliding boards), EKG, bladder scanner
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Meditech
Medication dispensing system: Pyxis

Job Responsibilities / Typical Procedures

Patient transfers
Bladder scans
Dressing changes
Medication administration

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 1 year of rehabilitation nursing experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Baxter Sigma Spectrum Pump Training
Transfer training
Experience with MEDITECH

Rehab scoring documentation

Work Environment & Expectations

Floating assignments across Med-Surg, Telemetry, Renal, Urology, Orthopedic, and Overflow units (excluding ICU)
Bedside report and handoff procedures
Hourly rounding
Ensure bed alarm activation
Work schedule includes every other weekend and holidays
On-call duties are rare and depend on overall hospital census
