RN - Med Surg

Overview

• Travel RN position in Nashville, Tennessee
• Unit: Post-Op Med/Surg
• 34-bed unit
• Patient ratio: 6:1
• Schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, with 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Hours per week: 36
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Med Surg (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Maintenance of chest tubes

Clinical Skills / Experience

• Med/Surg experience
• Ability to prioritize care and multitask
• Start IVs
• Basic wound care
• Maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

Unit Environment

• Tech support available on day and night shifts
• Unit secretary available 7a–7p
• Floating: contract labor floats first, then by rotation when multiple contract staff are scheduled

• IV pumps
• Telemetry
• SCDs
• Continuous pulse oximetry machines
• Feeding pumps
• PCA
• EKG machines
• Bladder scanner
• iMobile communication technology
• Documentation system: Meditech

Patient Care Expectations

• Provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and families
• Perform bedside shift report
• Build personal connections with patients and include them and their families in the plan of care

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs, top and bottom
