Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Med/Surg Telemetry
- Shift: 3x12-hour shifts only (Day/Night rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Shifts may be rotated as needed to meet hospital operational needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
Requirements
- Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignment.
- Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted).
- Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
- Certifications required:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Pass ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation.
Orientation & Testing
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate testing; passing scores required.
- Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Medication) required for all bedside RNs (except OR). Retakes available after 1 week if needed.
- Online training modules must be completed prior to start; these are high priority and cannot be delayed.
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before testing.
Background & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) required within 48 hours of signed contract and updated annually.
- Fingerprints must be completed under code 4723.09 (Nursing).
- Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending if prints are completed prior to start.
- Fingerprinting also conducted onsite at the facility.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually. PAPRs approved case-by-case.
- Immunizations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if titers negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if titers negative/equivocal
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
Documentation & Verification
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar area.
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- State license primary source verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
- Annual skills checklist required.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID at all times on assignment.
- Candidates returning to the facility after a gap of less than 6 months may have some orientation/testing exemptions.
- Modules and onboarding typically take multiple days and must be completed before clearance to start.
- Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus for submitting hours worked.
