Job Description

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
• Shift: 3x12-hour shifts (Day/Night rotating shifts, 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
• Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs
• Must work at least every other holiday
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass/fail testing

Requirements

• Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignment
• Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted)
• Must hold a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license
• Certifications required:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS Stroke Certification
• Pass ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate tests during orientation
• Must carry a government-issued photo ID while on assignment

Certifications & Competencies

• Annual renewal required for:

  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Stroke Certification
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Unit-specific Competency Exam
• Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing required onsite during orientation (except legacy candidates with less than 6-month gap)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable

Background & Compliance

• Background check required prior to start, including:

  • FCRA compliant 7-year search
  • SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3
  • Education verification
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) required within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually
• Fingerprints must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
• Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite
• Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if prints are completed before start

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant screens not accepted)

Documentation & Onboarding

• Must complete all required online training modules prior to start (typically takes multiple days)
• Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before testing
• Candidates returning with a gap >6 months must re-complete modules
• References: 2 references from employment within 1 year, from manager/supervisor level (no co-worker references)
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care experience in a similar specialty

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be prepared for variable shifts and holiday work
• Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked
• Compliance with all facility-specific policies and testing is mandatory for assignment continuation and extensions
