ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - New Orleans, Louisiana

Job Details

• Position: ICU Registered Nurse
• Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 48
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Float Requirement: Must float within ICU
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
• First-time travelers: Not accepted (prior travel experience required)
• Electronic Health Record System: EPIC required
• Scrubs: Provided

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Preferred Certifications

• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Minimum of 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIHSS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with EPIC electronic health record system
• Trauma experience

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (within 12 months, updated annually, minimum 80%)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (within 12 months, updated annually, minimum 80%)
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, and III) updated annually

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Sex offender search as per client request
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months (not required by facility but required by placement agency)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines (two-step skin test or equivalent)
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months)
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if titer low
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions and declinations accepted
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (comprehensive panel including marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, etc.)

• Must be able to meet employee appearance policy
• Must complete required documentation and verifications within specified timeframes (e.g., license verification, competency exams)
• CPI certification may be completed onsite if not already certified (must be completed within 30 days of start)

This position is ideal for experienced ICU Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity trauma setting.
