Weekend coverage: Occasional weekends
On-call: Weekend on-call coverage once every 2 months

Required Qualifications

Histology Technologist experience within the last year
5 years of experience as a Histology Technologist
BLS issued by American Heart Association
HT(ASCP)
Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in histotechnology, biology, or a related scientific discipline
QIHC
Experience with IHC and special stains

Work Setting

Teaching hospital
Magnet facility
Level 1 trauma center
865 staffed beds

Role Summary

Performs routine and complex histologic procedures, including processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and special stains, and immunohistochemistry
Performs quality control on completed slides
Identifies problems that may affect diagnosis and results
Records test observations
Documents maintenance of lab instruments and equipment
Follows established laboratory policies and procedures

Additional Notes

Parking is available for nights and weekends for a one-time fee of $20
Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season

Pros

Everyone was so helpful and nice when i started. beautiful hospital grounds with ample outdoor areas to hang out during breaks/lunch.Amazing cafeteria and always had at least 5 food trucks outside the hospital for linch. Friendly staff including doctors and great patients. patient to staff ratio was awesome and always had a great team mentality of helping everyone out when needed.

Cons

The only con of the area was cost of living especially rent. I rented downtown so I could walk to work but coworkers who lived off of the main downtown area on other islands complained of heavy traffic.
