Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER (Night Shift)

Shift Details

• Night shift
• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 7:30)
• Total 36 hours per week

Facility Overview

• 437-bed teaching hospital
• Level II Trauma Center
• Uniform: scrubs (all white, all navy, or combination)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience
• Emergency Department experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Prior Travel Experience

• Not explicitly required

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Driver’s license or state ID with clear picture and address
• 7-year background check completed within 30 days of start; updated annually
• Additional background screenings including:

  • EPLS/GSA/SAM
  • HHS/OIG
  • New York State Medicaid Exclusion List (updated annually)
• Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable)
• State license verification within 30 days of start (no license hits accepted)
• Physical exam using facility-specific form completed by a physician within 30 days of start; must include specific required sections and signatures
• Fit test for N95 mask (Halyard Fluidshield or 3M 1860) within 12 months of start; updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (antibody and antigen results required)
• Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start; updated annually; rapid tests not accepted
• Seasonal flu vaccination required October 1 - April 30 (declinations allowed for religious or medical reasons)
• COVID vaccination preferred (initial series)

Competency Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam with minimum score of 80%
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required depending on unit

References and History

• Two clinical references required (supervisor level or above; charge RNs acceptable)
• Employment application must include 7 years of employment history with explanations for any gaps
• Skills checklist current within the last year and applicable to the position
