Job Opportunity: CT Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: New London, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Evenings (14:45 - 23:15), 5 days a week, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Evening shift with call and weekend coverage as needed.
- Floating required between two hospital locations in CT and RI. Candidate must obtain both Connecticut and Rhode Island state licenses; can start with whichever license is issued first while the other is pending.
- Facility type: Short-term acute care, Level III trauma center with 252 staffed beds.
- Charting system: EPIC.
- Free parking available.
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in Connecticut.
- Minimum 1.5 years of CT Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Certifications & Training
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit (check unit description).
- Other certifications (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) are unit-specific and generally not required for CT Tech.
- Must complete facility-specific attestations and training modules prior to or shortly after start date.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months prior to start; must be updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Verification of education and licensure through primary source within 30 days of start.
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation required for internationally educated candidates.
- Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps greater than 90 days.
- Work history verification required for all start dates on/after 8/2/2024.
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for new candidates.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months of start; must be updated annually. Candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing.
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (rapid accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required. TB questionnaire must be updated annually.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (09/01 - 03/31).
- COVID vaccination series preferred but not mandatory.
Additional Information
- Candidate must have photo ID matching legal name on first day.
- Must complete required competency exams and pass with minimum scores (e.g., medication/pharmacology competency).
- Color blindness testing required for all candidates starting on/after 8/2/2024.
- Candidate must complete facility-specific training modules and sign attestations prior to or shortly after start date.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level III trauma center with advanced imaging technology and a supportive environment. Candidates must be flexible to float between two states and maintain compliance with multiple licensing and credentialing requirements.
